Here it is, the best film of 2018. A must watch for people who like movies like Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War. The latest release from Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios, Ant-Man and the Wasp, is a lighthearted popcorn flick with heart and humour — but also without any of the typical superhero melodrama and violence. "It's not a huge event." said director Peyton Reed of Ant-Man and the Wasp. "It's just a little adventure that they go on together. It's one of those movies where you can kind of walk out not knowing what happened. I think it works really well, and I think it left the audience with that feeling that you felt at the end of your day, like 'OK, that's my Ant-Man.' I think that's important." It is perhaps for this reason (and the fact that the film has an ensemble cast) that there is no villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Instead, the film focuses on how Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) gains his super powers after breaking house arrest following his adventure with Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). From there, the plot follows the two heroes as they travel the world, trying to find clues to solve a mystery that is threatening all of humanity. Scott's daughter (the wisecracking Cassie Lang) joins the group; along with Hank and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), who has become Hank's partner in his new, smaller company. "We wanted to explore what it looks like for both characters to kind of deal with this new level of responsibility that they now have," Reed said. "Particularly Scott; he is always looking for redemption, but I don't think he ever thought that he would be able to achieve that by going into a mission that has no guarantee of being successful. But he is constantly trying to find a way to redeem himself and make things right and make it work. "This movie is about the growth of Cassie — there is definitely growth in both of them — and we wanted to explore that with Hope and Cassie, and we wanted to explore the growth of Hank Pym, too. In the old days he used to be a superhero, but now he just has people working on his projects, his tech company. We've been really interested in exploring how he would have been able to deal with this. "And also, Hope, who has been so long in the background trying to get back at Darren Cross, is now dealing with her father's legacy again. It's a whole family dynamic that we wanted to explore." This is an Ant-Man movie at heart, but the Wasp steals the show in more ways than one. When Evangeline Lilly was announced as being cast in 2014 for the film's sequel, there were calls by fans for Hank Pym to have his daughter Hope be the Wasp instead of Scott Lang. Of course, this didn't happen -– but there were still plenty of clues suggesting that this may be coming later on down the road. cfa1e77820
